Our application Go Too Thessaloniki is designed for the visitors of Thessaloniki as well as for the citizens and the locals that never had the chance to explore the rich built environment and historical monuments of this wonderful city. Βorn and raised in Thessaloniki we approached the development of this project also through a sentimental prism protesting for the significance and the cultural footprint of the historic city. We developed a map based application that welcomes the visitors. The main decision was to enrich the traditional digital map navigation with landmarking pins stigmatizing the walking routes of the visitors with a micro-image on the map. The most significant monuments, buildings and sites are consisting a friendly and fresh map environment. Achievement for us: -clean and bright interface -wandering though easy to remember images -text of site descriptions on a single tap -magnifying glass navigation -only a few and simple setting We want to believe that people will use it with enthusiasm and we are looking forward for their reactions. Through the magnifying glass of their monitors the visitors are exploring the city. We suggest Go Too Thessaloniki as a tool to make the wandering of a stranger super-easy in an unfamiliar to them city. Landmarks and historic sites and monuments of the city are represented by a circular micro-image. A drop up drawer is giving information (texts dragged from the open encyclopedia Wikipedia) for the sites on a simple tap of the pin. The only settings we chose to have were the language switch and the ability to swap through images sizes. The current version is bilingual but having more language only by having the translated texts abilifies the app to communicate easily with everyone in the world. The sightseeing was never before as easy as now.
