CityXplore application offers the possibility to the visitors of Thessaloniki to visit and learn the long history of main attractions, landmarks and places of historical interest but also get familiarized with the culture of the city and the lifestyle of its inhabitants. All these, through an interactive game, involving questions, photos, QR codes, check-ins and more. Sections can be interchanged and are not dependable to each other, so that the visitor will have the opportunity to choose between them and may easily and independently create his own tour around the city. By concluding each section the visitor earns points which later will be able to cash out by earning gifts and discounts from shops and free services by the municipality of the city. Tourist guides and city tour groups nowadays are considered to be boring and outdated by many tourists and explorers of cities, since they lack the concept of interactivity and communication between visitors and citizens. CityXplore offers the user / visitor the opportunity to interfere with the public, as to successfully complete a task and walk around the city, he will have to ask information from the locals, search sites and locations and learn the secrets of the inhabitants. Our public and potential users of the application are considered to be all potential visitors of the city, having basic technology knowledge and holders of a smartphone. In the absence of direct competition, and taking as granted that the number of the city visitors increases every year, we are looking forward to a quick and effective adoption of the application by the users. CityXplore will initially be available in the appstore for smartphones running ios and later on, will be released for smartphones with android software.
